Sir Pigglesworth Action & Adventure Chapter Books for Children ages 5-10
The piggy inhabitants of Pigonia had no one to turn to on their island, so they wrote a letter to the Duchess of Pigglesworth explaining their dire predicament.
The pirates are attacking their island and kidnapping the young piggies.
They’re afraid and need her help.
Will help arrive in time before any more piggies are snatched from the island?

Chapter 1
I will see the Queen. She will know what to do, Penelope said to herself. Off she went to Buckingham Palace.
“My dear,” said Queen Alexandra as she sipped her tea, “you must go to Pigonia at once.”
“I will send Admiral Cornelius Snout of the Royal Navy and Reginald J. Hoggbottom of New York City to help you make Pigonia safe again.”
The Duchess left her mother in charge of Pigglesworth Village and sailed to Pigonia on a royal ship.

I love this illustration!
Just look at the giant in the bubble…and see how startled Sir Pigglesworth looks!
In the foreground, Sir Pigglesworth doesn’t look very happy.
It was the stretch limo you see that caused his reaction.
The giant isn’t very scary-looking because I didn’t want to scare little kids.
So he just looks a little intimidating.
David uses bubbles to show that Sir Pigglesworth is picturing what’s happening in his mind, not really happening.
Notice the airplane taking off…you can tell you’re still at the airport.

JoAnn held his hoof as they left the airport and went into the parking area.
Their limo was waiting for them at the curb just outside the door.
“JoAnn, do something!” Sir Pigglesworth cried.
“Someone stretched that car out! There must be a giant here who likes to stretch things!”
He imagined the giant stretching his ears out until they dragged the ground.
“I don’t want to look like Dumbo!” he cried loudly.

This is the second time we see JoAnn doing Sir Pigglesworth’s favorite thing…ear scratches!
Notice all the detail in the picture with the control tower seen through the window and a plane ready for take-off.
You know JoAnn is smiling as she scratches his ear…she loves to see Sir Pigglesworth happy…don’t we all?

Sir Pigglesworth Action & Adventure Chapter Books for Children ages 5-10
The first thing that popped out at me when my illustrator sent me this picture was the spelling of ‘Shiney Shoe’.
Thinking it should be “Shiny’ and that it was misspelled in American English but not in British English I spent time searching around for an answer.
Turns out both are correct and it’s oftentimes spelled ‘Shiney’ in British English but some will say it’s wrong either way.
I decided to let it pass and no one has ever said a word about it to me. Whew…slid by on that one!
Another funny thing I find in these illustrations is that some characters just smile at Sir Pigglesworth like it’s a common sight to see a pig walking around…
REALLY?!? And others look startled!
What would be your reaction if you saw a pig walking around?

The young 5 year-old pig was so amazed by everything around him that he forgot something very important.
He forgot to wait for his parents!
But who could blame him? There were so many interesting sights all around to catch his eye!
Oh, I’m sure they are just a few steps behind me, he thought.

Imagine a family just sitting down for a quiet dinner…when WAM!
You’re carrying a bowl full of gravy and it goes flying out of your hands (errr…hooves)!
Easy to imagine in this descriptive illustration.
Look at the Duke’s face…you can surely see he’s not too happy to have hot gravy pouring down his face…can you blame him?
Look at how startled the Duchess is to be slammed into unexpectedly from behind…she never saw it coming!
Sir Pigglesworth is so excited to tell his news that he doesn’t even notice the havoc he’s caused.

Chapter 1
The Duke and Duchess of Pigglesworth were just sitting down to dinner when Sir Pigglesworth came roaring into the room.
He stomped one foot, snorted loudly, and charged toward the table.
His head was lowered like a bull and since he couldn’t see where he was going, he ran straight into his mom who was carrying a bowl of gravy.
The bowl went flying through the air and landed on his dad’s head!
